Environmental Physiology

HEAT

With our state-of-the-art environmental chamber and the pioneering methods we have developed, we study how the human body adapts to any environment on the planet. We evaluate fabrics, clothing, and equipment under different conditions, contributing to the design and production of better products.

Environmental Physiology

Cold & Altitude

We assess human and equipment performance both in the laboratory and in real-world conditions at altitude, wind, cold, and humidity in the Highlands of Scotland, the Alps, and the Himalayas. We conduct hypoxic training for athletes, prepare mountaineers for expeditions, and provide medical support for illnesses and accidents related to high altitude. With our state-of-the-art environmental chamber and the pioneering methods we have developed, we study how the human body adapts to any environment on the planet. Environmental Physiology

Immersion / Diving

We study the effects of swimming in cold water and deep diving. Our research has included the English Channel swim and ultra-distance swimming events (>100 km). We provide guidance for individuals exposed to cold water and medical support for diving and open-water swimming.

Environmental Physiology

Expeditions / Field Studies

We conduct research in extreme environments and provide support and medical coverage for endeavors and expeditions under extreme conditions. Our work spans the full spectrum of physiological, nutritional, and psychological factors. Our most recent projects include the Marathon des Sables in the Sahara Desert and Mount Everest.

Environmental Physiology

Climate Migration

Climate change reduces agricultural and livestock productivity as well as industrial output, creating political tensions. We study the impacts of climate change on migration in order to help vulnerable populations around the world adapt through effective, fair, and sustainable interventions.
