PETROS DINAS

Role

Dr Petros Dinas is a researcher in the field of physiology, specializing in systematic literature reviews and the study of brown adipose tissue. His research focuses on investigating the role of brown adipose tissue in human physiology. At the same time, he contributes to the development of innovative methodological approaches for the critical evaluation of scientific literature and the production of high-quality scientific conclusions.

Dr Petros Dinas is a researcher in the field of physiology, specializing in systematic reviews, meta-analyses and network meta-analyses. His research focuses on a wide spectrum of the effects of exercise, nutrition and the environment on human health, including the role of brown adipose tissue in human physiology. At the same time, he contributes to the development of innovative methodological approaches for the critical evaluation of scientific literature and the production of high-quality scientific conclusions.

Dr Petros Dinas holds a BSc degree in “Military Academy” obtained from the Greek Non-Commissioned Officers School and in Physical Education and Sport Sciences from the University of Thessaly. His postgraduate studies include a Masters in “Exercise and Health” obtained from the University of Thessaly, a Diploma in “Space Life Sciences” from the International Space University, France and a PhD in “Function and Activation of Human Brown Adipose Tissue” obtained from the University of Wolverhampton, UK.

He was funded by the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, the World Health Organization and the European Commission to conduct systematic reviews and research in human physiology. He previously worked on human brown adipose tissue and occupational human health projects. Currently works on network meta-analyses of the effects of exercise, diet and drugs on human blood pressure of hypertensive overweight and obese individuals as well as on the effects of physical activity and drugs on inflammatory joint diseases and osteoarthritis. Dr Dinas teaches methods of systematic reviews and meta-analyses at undergraduate and post-graduate level at the University of Thessaly. His research has been published in peer-reviewed scientific journals and has been used from research and policy organizations. He serves as an expert for European Commission funding research proposals, while he is a reviewer for >50 peer-reviewed scientific journals. His aspiration is to provide the best quality evidence to the public, so that assists to the people’s healthy well-being.
